I’m sorry for the crickets around here! Things have been so crazy busy, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any less busy for awhile.
We closed on our house in Ohio and somehow got everything packed up. It was such a stressful experience trying to get everything done with 3 kids and my husband working (a NEW job) full time, but we somehow got it done. I’m terrified we forgot something important in our old house; I don’t want to move again for a LONG TIME.
I left Ohio with the girls at around noon. There were still a few things to pack up, but the girls were getting fussy and tired and clinging to me, so I wasn’t able to help pack things up anyways. Ben left with Theo about two hours later. We have made the drive from Ohio to RI many times, but we have never left that late in the day and usually are in the same vehicle. We were unsure if we would make it the entire way there or have to stop for the night.
We stopped for the night in New Jersey and arrived in Rhode Island at about 2:00 PM on Saturday. Since we haven’t closed on our house here yet (more on that below), we are renting short term. We are actually staying in the town I grew up in, 2 doors down from my parent’s house. Their neighbor’s house was vacant and it is perfect for us short-term. It is a 2-hour commute to Boston where Ben works so not ideal in that regard.
There was a little bit of drama with the inspection report of our new house. Since it’s a REALLY old house, there is some work that needs to be done it and the seller isn’t willing to help with very much since she dropped the price a considerable amount. I pretty much spent the entire week on the phone with contractors trying to get estimates for the work that needs to be done so we could know for sure that we have enough money to fix everything that is a safety concern before we move in. We got all the information we need and decided the house is worth the work. We love the house and neighborhood and know it will be worth the investment for our family.
The other reason our week was SO CRAZY was the fact that my husband had to travel to Denver for work. We arrived in RI on Saturday and he had to leave on Monday! He got back at about 2:30 AM Friday morning. Single parents, I bow down to you! I seriously have NO IDEA how you do it.
We close on our new house on 10/20 and are hoping to move in 2-3 weeks after that. The biggest project we need to do before we move in is replace all of the windows. Once that is done, we can move in!
I’ll keep everyone updated with pictures of the house and updates we do! But for now, please enjoy these pictures 🙂
