Teaching Toddlers: A Course To Prepare Your Toddler for Preschool… and keep them busy all summer

Sharing is caring!

Today was Theo’s last day of preschool for the year, which means tomorrow is the first official day of summer break.  My emotions range from excited to straight up panicked.  He is the sweetest, most joyful and loving little boy you could ever meet.  However, he is 3, and I have a post coming soon about all the freaking joy that comes with being 3.  Hint: not a lot!

All snarkiness aside, I really am terrified about what I’m going to do with the kids all summer long.  The babies are no problem, but if Theo doesn’t get out of the house he becomes a crazy person. So just take them out of the house, you say… Imagine trying to catch 3 fish.  Every time you catch one, another jumps back in the water (or has a blowout, or loses their shoes, or unpacks the diaper bag.)  That’s my life of trying to get my 3 tiny people out the door.  So we NEED things we can do at home.

He also has learned so much and come so far this year in preschool, and I want to make sure we keep up with learning in a fun way.  He’s a very bright boy (don’t all parents say this?!), and loves to learn new things and I want to cultivate that as much as possible while he’s young.  I had big plans of perusing Pinterest to find activities and printables and have a short, fun learning activity to do each day.  At the beginning of this week, I realized that I have NOT ONE SINGLE THING planned, and school is ending.

And then I stumbled across this course that Holly from This Toddler Life put together, and I see my summer becoming a little more manageable.

What Is Teaching Toddlers?

Teaching toddlers is a step by step course designed to help you teach your toddler the skills they need for preschool.  In my case, I am using it to keep Theo busy during the summer and help cultivate his love of learning.  When my twins are a little older, I will definitely use it to help teach them the basics.

The course includes:

  • 9 modules that span of a 9 week period.
  • 9 Group Coaching calls designed to help you teach your toddler as well as ask questions.
  • Full 9-week curriculum to use for reference and to help you stay organized.
  • Lifetime access to Teaching Toddlers so you can stop and start whenever you need.
  • Optional mentoring sessions that will help you and your child with the learning process.
  • Video Tutorials to help you better understand the course material.
  • Exclusive Membership to an online community of moms to add support and encouragement on your journey.
  • Weekly behavioral guides to help keep your child interested and focused.
  • Over 100 printables to help your child engaged through crafts and play.

Each module is centered around a new theme such as “My Body” or “My 5 Senses”. There will be 5 lessons in each module that include several activities for you to do with your child throughout the day. We will be focusing on teaching the preschool basics such as ABC’s, numbers, colors, and shapes.

One of the bonus items is a HUGE selection of printables. Not only does this make teaching your toddler fun and exciting for your child it makes teaching your toddler a breeze for you! You don’t have to spend hours at the craft store finding materials when you can get them all from home with a click of a button.

Why Choose This Course?

I have been following Holly’s blog for quite some time now.  Her blog is jam packed with legit posts and she always says that quality education begins at home.  I couldn’t agree more!  Her goal is to help other mamas who might not know how to do this (or who have 15-month-old twins and just need a little help!). Ha.  So many activities.  So many printables.  I can’t wait!

So timely! My son will be in preschool soon and I really have no idea what to expect! Especially since he has separation anxiety! I'll definitely have to try these tips!

The teacher in me just loves this! I agree how hard it can be to go out with 3 kids. Yours are all closer in age though so I bet it's an ordeal. Mine are 8,4, and 2. There will be a lot of library trips and trips to the beach, just to get them out of the house!

I think once they're a little older the age gap will be nice, but right now they can't even get ready on their own lol. And my twins aren't walking yet... not sure if it will be easier or harder once they start!

As a former preschool teacher, I love this idea! I think what I love most is the course being broken down into modules, or as we teachers call it lesson plans. This is really such a neat idea. Where was this when my children were toddlers?? :) Michelle/ Life of an Imperfect Mom
