Beckham’s Three Month Update: 3 Month Baby Schedule

Sharing is caring!

Beckham was 3 months on July 17th. This update is for his third month of life (weeks 8-13), from June 17th to July 17th. This was a big month for us. He started sleeping 12 hours right at the 3 month mark and is officially sleeping through the night!

What to Expect With a 3 Month Old Baby

Three months is such a fun age. I love the early baby stage when they’re super smiley and just starting to discover things. The simplest things, such as cooing and watching their hands are the most precious things.

Beckham continues to amaze us every month and how happy and easy going he is.

I cannot even handle how cute he is.

3 Month Old Babywise and Moms on Call Schedule

We are still doing a myriad of Babywise and Moms on Call. New moms! Get yourself one (or both) of those books. They are so good.

If you read my 2-month post you know that we struggled with finding a time to do the dream feed that didn’t actually mess with Beckham’s sleep cycle.

Once we found that that time worked for him, he started solidly sleeping through the night from 11pm-7 am.

We stuck with this for a good 3 weeks and then we started working on dropping the dream feed. Read more about that below!

Right at 3 months (or 13 weeks) we were successfully done with the dream feed and Beckham was going 12 hours between feedings at night and sleeping a total of 11.5 hours.

We followed this schedule for his entire 3rd month of life, so from 8-13 weeks.

  • 7:00: Eat, and awake time
  • 8:00: Nap
  • 10:00: Eat, awake time
  • 11:00: Nap
  • 1:00: Eat, awake time
  • 2:00: Nap
  • 4:00: Eat, awake time
  • 5:30: Catnap (usually lasted about an hour)
  • 6:30: Awake time, bath, or a quick wipe down
  • 7:00: Eat
  • 7:30: Bedtime!
  • 11:00 Dream Feed

We started making the dream feed earlier at 11 weeks and by 13 weeks we dropped it completely.

3 Month Old Baby Eating

Beckham is still eating every 3-hours during the day at this point. He dropped the dream feed at almost 3 months exactly and started going a solid 12-hours.

For the first 2.5 months, Ben would give him a bottle as his last feeding of the day and I would pump. I loved that they had that bonding time together.

However, Beckham didn’t exactly love the bottle and I’d get nervous that he wasn’t getting enough, so I’d end up nursing him after he had his bottle and then pumping later in the evening.

This became totally counterproductive, so we stopped doing that and I just breastfeed him for all of his feedings.

3 Month Old Baby Sleeping

Some 3 month old babies are ready to be sleeping a solid 10-12 hours. Some will also still need to eat 1-2 times in the middle of the night, so if that’s your baby, don’t worry. Sleep will come.

Make sure you’re keeping them on a consistent schedule with the correct amount of wake time and you will get there.

Beckham was going to bed at 7:30, getting a dream feed at 11:00, and then sleeping until 7:00 AM.

3 Month Old Naps

We are still doing an hour of awake time and a solid 2-hour nap. He does well with an hour of awake time and doesn’t seem ready for much more at this point.

Dropping the Dream Feed

I had a feeling that dropping the dream feed would be pretty easy with Beckham. I mean, he’s just such an easy baby!

He started showing signs that he was ready to drop the dream feed at around 11 weeks. I was having to wake him up for every single feeding, including his morning feeding. He always ate but never seemed super hungry.

I decided to start slowwllyy moving his dream feed back at 11 weeks. We did about 15 minutes every 2 nights and made it back to 10:00 with no issues.

Then we tried 9:45 and he woke up at 4:30 in the morning! So it definitely messed with his sleep cycle. I tried for a few nights and he woke up at 4:30 every time so I decided to just ditch the dream feed completely.

The first night we had no dream feed he woke up at 4:30 and babbled (maybe whined, but didn’t even really cry or fuss) for about ten minutes and then went back to sleep. PRAISE. THE. LORD.

He did this for a few days and then went to sleeping straight until 7:00.

3 Month Old Baby Milestones

Rolling Over

Beckham rolled over for the first time when he was 9 weeks old. Funny story… I got ALL EXCITED because he was so close to rolling over one afternoon.

I told my husband over dinner… “Oh guess what, Beckham almost rolled over today!” To which he responded “Oh, I forgot to tell you that he rolled over this morning.”

I was so mad that I missed it! I mean, obviously I wasn’t really mad, but I spend sooo much time with this baby and the 20 minutes out of the day that I’m in the shower he does his tricks for daddy. Typical!

Tummy Time

He is doing really awesome at tummy time! He can raise his head and chest when lying on his tummy now and the big kids get so excited for him.

Beach Days

Beckham has had lots of beach days!

He even takes great naps in his little beach tent. I bring his swaddle (no white noise since there are waves, otherwise I’d totally bring that as well) and he goes right to sleep.

Family Matching

I absolutely love matching all of them in coordinating colors.

Here are some of my favorites from this month!

Josie and Margo’s bathing suits are linked here. Theo’s and Beckham’s are both currently out of stock 🙁

Pajamas are from Primary!

4th of July

Beckham’s first 4th of July was fun, even though we couldn’t do much because of Covid. Fireworks were cancelled and the beaches were super packed so we didn’t even try to get in.

We ended up renting a campsite and “camping” during the day with my mom. We didn’t stay there overnight because we aren’t crazy enough to camp with 4 children, one of whom is 3 months old lol.

Brotherly Love

It’s safe to say we all ADORE Beckham, but out of the 3 big kids, Theo is especially smitten with him. I think it’s probably because Josie and Margo are getting close as they get older and he’s feeling left out of the twin bond.
